The 2:45 A.M. alarm was always going to have a shelf life.
Katie had an existence that looked great on paper with a big market on-air TV career. But out of the public view, she was miserable.
No one else was going to fix her situation.
In My Happy Place, Katie lays out her DIY roadmap to authentic personal bliss: how she self-audited and beat down roadblocks to actualize her most joyous path, plus her practical steps to ensure the good times keep rolling. A relatable, hopeful memoir/how-to hybrid, My Happy Place is for all the people-pleasers trying to take back control of their own lives.
Up until September 2019, Philadelphians woke up to Katie Fehlinger delivering the weather forecast on CBS3 Eyewitness News This Morning. But the 2:45 A.M. alarm eventually wore out its shelf life and Katie decided to take the biggest leap of her life. She left what many would consider a dream job as meteorologist in the #4 market to pursue her true version of happiness - the freedom to make her own schedule.
Now, she’s channeling her talents into multiple pursuits: as a burgeoning author, public speaker and through entrepreneurial ventures, including helping beginner video creators become on-camera and production rockstars.
Before switching professional focus and leaving KYW-TV, Katie made stops at WCBS in New York, AccuWeather Inc., and WLVT as a reporter/producer. She’s worked as a regular game day meteorologist for several regional Fox Sports Networks, NESN, YES, and the Big Ten Network. She also appeared on a host of other major networks including ESPN, ABC, FOX News, FOX Business and Bloomberg. In addition to her television resume, Katie has worked extensively in radio, the highlights of which include a multi-year run as KYW Newsradio’s AM drive meteorologist and as newsbreak anchor for Talk Radio 1210 WPHT.
Katie is also the extremely proud mother of 4-year-old twin daughters and solo-produces content for her thriving DIY YouTube channel.
Katie has years of experience speaking in front of huge crowds and smaller groups alike. She's done everything from emcee 5k race day festivities in front of thousands to co-host science programs for school age kids. She's been a keynote speaker, co-hosted live telethons, introduced live musical acts, even called bingo numbers to raise money for NICU babies.
As a lifelong DIYer and crafter, Katie's true passion lies in her creative side. Katie grew up learning all the tricks of the stitching trade from her mom, and schooled herself out of necessity in cheap-but-chic DIY home decor and design. From upcycling dusty antique furniture to sewing a duvet from scratch to designing the perfect kids' birthday party (plus creating any and all kinds of home decor and furniture in between), Katie has tried it. She loves sharing ideas to help others add a little inspiration and happiness to their lives!
